Position Summary:
Our Behavioral Health Department is committed to providing high-quality, integrated care in a collaborative, community-driven environment. We are actively seeking a Psychologist (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) to fill the position of Director of Behavioral Health. The Director will report directly to the Associate Medical Director of Behavioral Health and be responsible for overseeing the administration, coordination, and strategic direction of mental health services across our health center. This is a key leadership position that will play a pivotal role in advancing our behavioral health services and ensuring their alignment with both organizational goals and clinical standards.
Given the nature of this role, we are seeking a licensed clinical psychologist with extensive knowledge and experience in providing high quality care standards, clinical supervision, academic development. This position requires strong operational and administrative skills to effectively manage the day-to-day operations of the Behavioral Health Department, including budgeting, scheduling, compliance, and staff management. A psychologist's leadership abilities will be essential to drive the department's vision, integrate services across the organization, and ensure the highest standards of care.
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in supervising multidisciplinary teams of clinicians, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other mental health professionals. Additionally, this role will be crucial in establishing and leading a Psychology Externship Program in collaboration with external academic institutions, providing students with valuable training experiences in a clinical setting.
Minimum Qualifications:
*Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) * in Psychology from an accredited program
Valid NYS License to practice as a psychologist
A minimum of 5 years of experience working in mental health settings (outpatient clinic, hospital, or similar), with demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience
At least 2 years of administrative experience in a behavioral health or healthcare facility
Expertise in mental health, knowledge of substance abuse, and addiction treatment services
Proven ability to effectively interact with and communicate across a diverse population of patients, clinicians, and staff.
Strong knowledge of clinical assessment and treatment techniques
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.
*Experience in training and academic development is a plus, as the position will involve the development of an externship program.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Graduate of an accredited Doctoral Degree program (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) Valid NYS License
At least 5 years of experience working in a previous mental health setting, outpatient clinic or hospital with supervisory and/or leadership experience
*At least 2 years of administrative experience in a health care facility
Knowledge of Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Alcoholism services.Ability to successfully interact and communicate with a diversified population
Bilingual, (English/Spanish) a plus.
Key Duties:Ensure organizational outcomes by overseeing and aligning Behavioral Health services with overall goals.
Ensure compliance with organizational guidelines and clinical standards for patient care and service delivery.
Develop and implement mechanisms to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and quality of behavioral health programs and services.
Supervise and monitor the performance and effectiveness of mental health providers, including Ph.D., Psy.D., LCSWs, and LMSWs within the department.
Lead the development of a Psychology Externship Program, collaborating with external universities to provide academic and clinical training.
Foster collaboration across departments to integrate behavioral health services into comprehensive patient care.
Ensure regulatory compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards, maintaining necessary reporting and documentation.
Support staff development through supervision, mentoring, and ongoing professional training opportunities.
